Benjamin & Zoodirector in Akshay Talab, Iran 2009

my little bear's adventures in iran

a little collaborative art project between me and dr. nadalian

"when i was a kid, my father allways told me bedtimestories (when he was not on one of his missions allover the planet himself), about zoodirector, calling his 2 little kangaroo friends (king and käng) every sunday afternoon onto his wooden frontporch, where he was smoking his pipe and then to send them out with utterly special missions, to experience adventures and take care of all the animals, to find new ones for the zoo to spend some time there, or to bring homesick animals back home, to find companions for others and and and ... and of course it was a more then special zoo, as all animals were simply invited to stay, tell their stories about their countries and life, play n feel good, meet many new friends, they lived in beautiful areals according to their needs and likings, (were of course never mistreated), could be social with humanoids or not, etx ... it was 100s of stories over many years and i wish we would have recorded them. so the 2 little kangagoos travelled the world and had so many adventures in all countries allover the planet. and now the very zoodirector and his travel-companion benjamin will experience the same on their very special mission, starting in iran..."

" i was always this bear girl... " which might be as well connected to ancient family history, as my grandparents family name is "bärenfänger" and a whole "branch" of my relatives were named that way, which translated into "bear-catchers" ... and maybe they worked in that field "professionally" in some historic times.... (it was a traditonal profession in medival times already, and before, to catch and train bears for all kinds of zoos, circusses, private parks etx allover germany, europe and many other countries, of course, too ...)
